Peerless rod "HLS/HB" 8'1" 5wt 2/1 includes line and tube
This Peerless rod is espresso flamed with complimenting java and chocolate silk wraps. The reel seat is made from figured fiddleback Koa adding striking elegance to this contemporary progressive rod. The progressive taper culminates in a smooth, accurate casting tool, with a reserve power waiting to be used by the angler in trout fishing environments. The rod design is ideal for the angler who splits their time fishing graphite and split cane rods, or is new to casting a split cane fly rod.
This Peerless 5 and HLS/HB series is a perfect companion for local California freestone rivers such as the Lower Yuba River, Lower Sacramento River as well as the Upper Sacramento River or Truckee River. At 8'1”, this split cane rod is able to roll cast, curve cast, set hooks with authority, and turn feisty trout. Delivering a dry fly accurately is effortless. I fish these rods on streams year-round with great success.
The rods are handmade in a range of lengths starting from 6’6” to 8’1”. Currently I offer 2 piece models, some are solid, some are hollow (HLSHB). The rods are finished with spar varnish then hand rubbed by the French polish method. The Gossamer silk thread becomes translucent in the varnishing process. The hardware is blackened Nickel Silver, with Snake Brand guides and Struble agate stripping guides. The reel seats are hand-turned in the shop. The rod is delivered in a duck cloth rod sock, with an amber bamboo hex case and DT 5wt line.
