Tara Wilson

Combinations - Wood-Fired Ceramics

September 12 - October 31, 2015

Reception: Saturday, September 12th, 3 - 6 p.m.

In our fourth ceramic exhibition we are pleased to welcome Tara Wilson from Montana. Wilson is known for her seductive vessels that muse upon human and animal forms. In her exhibition at Spun Smoke Wilson explores "combinations" - perfectly plump functional vessels supported by an undulating landscape base. Burnished with natural ash glaze, the vessels percolate sensuality, an extraordinary indulgence in functional ceramics!

Wilson received her BFA from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2000 and an MFA degree from the University of Florida in 2003. She has been a resident artist at The Archie Bray Foundation and The Red Lodge Clay Center. She was selected as an emerging artist for the 2006 NCECA conference, was a presenter at the 2006 International Woodfire Conference in Flagstaff, and a demonstrator at the 2009 NCECA conference in Phoenix, AZ.  Her work is included in many private and public collections including the Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts, Nidec-Shimpo America Corporation, Southern Connecticut State University, Ceramics Monthly and University Museum, Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
