Kim Anno rocks!! The Oakland Museum opened "Who is Oakland" a small experimental exhibition, "featuring the celebratory, inspirational, and challenging aspects of what is happening within Oakland today." Highlighting the diversity of Oakland communities are a range of "socially minded multimedia installations to painting, sculpture, video, and photography." Since I am a recent rescue from San Francisco, admittedly quite Oaklandish I was thrilled to see the Oakland Museum celebrating it's own! In the exhibition were 2 photo's from Kim Anno's last exhibition at PSG, staged at the Oakland estuary. Along with Kim Anno is a former CCA MFA student John McCoy, whose installation is a web of social and cultural complexity - visit Oakland! through July 10th.
